( all trainers MUST have one post. oh; this thread is basically the thread where Oak gives you your pokemon. After this ... thread I guess feel free to start your own! )
Professor Oak was taking over for Elm this week; the Johto regin professor was on leave on the Orange Islands, and Oak had helpfully stepped in. He wasn't out of his limit at all. Elm's assisstants were polite and very quick, and gave the right answers to the right questions. Oak was more than pleased with Elm's lab.
"I'll have to upgrade some day..."
Oak had murmured to himself with a content chuckle. Today was a big day though. Trainers would start their journey today. To mix it up, Oak had brought some of his own starters from Kanto to Johto. Althought he had gotten a headshake from the Assisstants, Oak had ignored them for the most part and had set them out. Now the waiting game would begin, wouldn't it?
The room was set up with six mini pillars all holding a single Pokeball, set in a half circle so those who were coming in could get a good view of all the Pokemon Oak (& Elm, respectivly) were offering. Professor Oak rubbed his chin, glancing around the room again. What else could he do before the rush started and ended just as fast?
A large stash of empty Pokeballs were settled back in a large box away from the new Trainers' grasp. Oak would be handing those out when the Trainers' picked their Pokemon. The Professor would give the Trainers five Pokeballs just to get them started. Oak turned on his heel and started to pace, but stopped at the sound of footsteps. Were the trainers coming now?

Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz….
A hand smacked the small red alarm clock that was adjacent to the twin sized bed. A girl stirred in the bed, slowly pushing the covers down and off her body. Today was the day. Riley pushed herself up and out of the small bed she had slept on in a PokeCenter in Cherrygrove city. Simple seven minute walk to New Bark Town, and on her way to the top of the food chain. Yep. That was the dream. As Riley quickly washed her face and dressed for the day, her mind wandered with the always being added to “to do list” she had planned mentally. Riley was going to go coastal if she didn’t get at least one of these things done before she went to face the Champion.
Alright. I’m changed, I’m dressed, I’m packed, I have a clean face … Now I can finally get out of here and on my way!
Riley left the PokeCenter just as the residents of Cherrygrove were waking up. She pulled her back pack up higher up on her back as she made her way through the grassless, path led way down to New Bark Town. Riley took her time, though. She had walked here all the way from Goldenrod City … she wasn’t going to rush anytime too soon. The sixteen year old went over her list of things to do and sighed when she forgot to go to the Pokemark to pick up a few things before she got her Pokemon. Specialized chow for whatever Pokemon she wanted. Riley really wanted a Bulbasaur, though. Chikorita was nice, but she really wanted a Bulbasaur. That was okay though, cause, when she beat the champion of Johto, she’d go on to meet Professor Oak and get Bulbasaur to start the Kanto journey all over again.
By then she might retire and just become a Breeder. It didn’t matter too much to her, really. As she finally broke past the trees that lined the path to New Bark Town, Riley allowed her mind to pause in it`s OCD tracks to see the pretty, quaint little town that she would start her journey in. Riley smiled to herself and headed straight towards the lab, her hand outstretched to push the door open. The lab seemed to welcome her into it, as she made her way close to where the Professor was standing.
But what startled her was that it wasn`t Elm in the lab… it was Oak! The white and grey hair gave it away! She knew Elm had dark brown hair that was starting to lighten, but Oak was a white and grey kinda guy! She had seen pictures! And not only were there three pokeballs… there were six! Her dream of getting a Bulbasaur was going to happen! Riley paused just a few feet from Oak, her mouth turning up into the smile.
`Hey Professor Oak…`
Riley said quietly, smiling.

Kaylin O'Hara - Eighteen - Blackthorn City
-------------------------------------------------------------Contrary to most Pokemon Trainers, Kaylin was akake and ready almost at the crack of dawn. Why? Because she was just that hyped over getting her very first pokemon. Considering it was the Johto region, Kay had already decided that out of the three starter pokemon available to her she'd choose a Cyndaquil. But only because she wanted a fire type to match her firey personality. That's right, Kaylin was no push over and she'd be damned if anyone assumed she was. It was even the reason she knew, without a doubt, that she'd be wiping the floor with the so called Champion.
Collecting up her things and stuffing a few momentos into her backpack, she practically skipped down the stairs to kiss her parents on their cheeks and sweeping out the door. She was like a whirlwind in her haste to get on the road and start her journey. She didn't even mind the fact that she was Travelling all the way from Blackthorn either. Thanking him for the wishes of luck, Kaylin waved a goodbye to the sweet old man that lived next door to her. He'd been the one to really get her into the idea of being a pokemon trainer due to his telling her of all the stories he had from being younger. It completely fascinated her and she'd made it her goal to be the best ever since. Not only for herself, but for her city too. They'd deserve the recognition for being the city she hailed from because it was such an amazing place to live.
Her journey to New Bark town was a long one, but since she'd set off early it didn't seem so bad. Especially when she saw the tops of buildings beaking the skyline which told her she'd finally reached her destination. With a new amount of energy, she picked up her pace and entered the town with a slight sense of wonder. It wasn't like she hadn't travelled the Region before, she was eighteen afterall and she'd been avid about going with her father on his travels, but this time it was different. She was here to start her pokemon journey and nothing was going to stand in her way.
Having the knowledge of where the lab was already, Kaylin wasted no time in heading in that direction and stepping through the doors into the slightly cooler building. She noted the other two trainers and smiled when she saw Professor Oak. She'd already heard the rumors that he was covering for Elm but she didn't want to assume until she confirmed it for herself. Of course, this, and the fact there were six pokeballs on display, meant she'd have two fire types to choose from; Cyndaquil and Charmander. Almost immediately she knew she'd choose Charmander over her initial choice of Cyndaquil. Why? 'cause Charizard was badass.
"Hey, Professor." Kaylin greeted, a bright smile upon her face as she stepped up to inspect the pokeballs from a respectable distance. Did she just blank the other two kids? Yes, yes she had. Though not out of bad manners obviously. She was just more interested in getting her new partner in crime.

The alarm clock buzzed three times before Damien decided to get up. Why was he doing this? There was no point in this. But he wanted that Totodile! If someone else took it then he was going to be really angry. After the trip he went on to get here. You go from Saffron City all the way to here? It was a long and hard trip. Where was he staying? Camped outside of New Bark Town. Finding a lake, he cleaned and freshened up before packing his camping gear up for the day. He needed to get there first. They all wanted to be someone and that was what he was been aiming for. Now it was primarily to get Totodile, but Sqirtle was the better out of all six starters that he knew of.
With a grunt, he hoisted his pack up onto his back. The supplies shifting to the sides as he moved it around to get comfortable. This was going to be a very long trip. But he would show up in time. Why not see the sights a little first? That was one of the reasons for coming on these journeys. Not just the friendship and the bonds you make, but to see the world.
In all actuality, he had been planning on going to Kanto until he got this idea. With a huff, he began the trip into New Bark Town. Hopefully he wouldn’t run into any wild pokemon. They were all weak down in this area, not like up near Saffron City was, the way Sabrina raised and trained that Kadabra of hers. He wanted to study under her for so long. But he never had the chance to catch an Abra. If he did then he would be in her gym right now. But to say here he was.
It wasn’t long before he was in New Bark Town; it was just finding this pokemon lab that was the problem. You think he would know where it is at by now, but no such luck. If he was a little late they could wait for him. After minutes of wondering around, he spotted the lab. Moving to a jog, he made it the rest of the way. Opening the door, the first shock that came to him was the girls that were already there. They must have gotten an early start. He gave them a smile and a nod to professor El----where was professor Elm?
“Professor Oak! I thought Professor Elm would be here.”
His eyes then landed on the six pokeballs that were there. What was this all about? Were there three or six people that were going to be here today? One of those had to have his Squirtle in it. If so then he was choosing that and not Totodile.

Buzz. Buzz. Bzzz!
The alarm clock squealed annoyingly, shaking as it buzzed and rattle on the wooden table beside the bed. A nimble hand flapped out from under the cover, slapping the table until it hit where it was aiming and slammed against the off switch. "Okay, okay, I'm awake." A husky feminine voice moaned, but it didn't appear she was up, no, in fact she still had her head buried under the bubble print cover and didn't appear to be crawling out anytime soon. When the alarm clock - that her hand had conveniently smacked hard enough to knock it close to the edge - teetered off and landed on the with a hard 'Thud!' on the hardwood floor she swung she covers off with a yelp of alarm. "Okay! I'm up!"
In a blur of clothes she managed to dig out an appropriate looking attire of a long sleeve light pink shirt and black sleeveless sweater followed by a pair of black jeans. Snagging an overnight bag from her closet she stuffed two more outfits into it. Hurriedly brushing her teeth and hair, she double checked to make sure she hadn't forgotten anything before shuffling out the door.
Lucky for her she had stumbled upon a friendly resident in New Bark Town after a long walk and boat ride to the Town - saved her a lot of trouble, really. She smiled warmly at the elderly woman setting the table before stumbling outside and towards the lab.
It appeared some trainers had already arrived and Professor Oak was here? Well now, it was a good thing she'd decided to come to New Bark Town rather than Pallet Town now! She would have missed out entirely.
Her blue-grey eyes flickered over the other trainers, the pokeballs, and then the professor with interest. A conning smile curled her lips - reformed con or not, she still had that smile. "Hello there, Professor Oak."

To say that Indigo's journey to New Bark Town had been difficult would be putting things mildly. Her trip to Professor Oak's lab had consisted off too many challenges that should have easily been avoided. Her mother had purchased her tickets for a series of different modes of transportation that would deliver her to New Bark Town. Indigo had been thankful that her journey to the small town located on the other side of the region wouldn't have to be performed by foot. Only things hadn't gone exactly according to plan.
Indigo's mother had told her the wrong time to arrive at the bus station so that she could board her first type of transportation. Instead of saying one eleven o'clock a.m. her mother had told her one o'clock p.m. instead. She felt nothing but unbelief when the old bat at the ticket counter told her that her assigned bus had pulled out nearly two hours before her arrival. Her situation was just dandy. She was stranded at a bus station outside of her hometown with no way to reach Professor Oak's lab and receive the pokemon she had been so set on claiming.
Now she left to her own clever devices to discover a way to travel across Johto and enter Professor Oak's lab on the designated day that she had been told. Lady luck had seemed to be with Indigo on that day. As she sat on the bench by the bus station, feeling defeated, an old gentlemen came to sit next to her. He asked her why she looked so glum and she hesitantly relayed her story. Indigo inferred that he must have pitied her because he told offered to let her use his charizard to transport her to New Bark Town. Once she arrived at the lab all she had to do was ask the professor to use his PC to send the pokemon back to the man. Could things get any easier?
No, they couldn't get easier but they surely could get more difficult. The man cheerfully handed over a pokeball and went on his merry way, leaving Indigo baffled. He had so willingly left his pokemon with a random teenage girl. Indigo surely wasn't complaining! She threw the pokeball open and was greeted by...a magikarp. The man had left her the wrong pokemon! One problem had just tumbled into another. With the magikarp flopping my her side Indigo slung her bag over her shoulder and began the long walk to New Bark Town.
She didn't travel very far before her feet became sore and she was oh so tired. Walking wasn't the solution to her problem of lack of transportation. Night fell and Indigo resorted to laying under a tree off of the side of the path, hoping that a miracle would resolve her tragedy. What would be the chance that a wild pidgeot would happen to be roosting in the tree that she decided to rest under? An angry pokemon swooped down and began to furiously peck at Indigo. She jumped up, surprised, and to her best ability attempted to calm the pidgeot.
Somehow her cries of 'calm down, you crazy bird' pulled the bird out of its state of rage and hopped over to Indigo and stretched out its wings, as if beckoning her to climb on. This pidgeot looked to be a few sizes larger than your average pretty out and seemed pretty able to carry a hundred pounds of teenager. So Indigo climbed onto the wild pokemon's back.
It was like the pokemon had a built in navigator or something. Indigo had realized shortly after impulsively hopping on the pidgeot that it was untamed and had no idea where her desired location was. Yet it seemed that she didn't have to worry. The pidgeot flew doggedly through the night and come morning she was right on the outskirts of New Bark Town. The pidgeot was about to collapse but Indigo had made it to New Bark Town, even earlier than she had originally intended.
Though she didn't want to get too attached to the pokemon she pitied it and decided to usher it inside the lab. Indigo silently entered through the door and waited for the pidgeot to hustle in before letting the door swing shut. "Professor?" Indigo quietly called out. Indigo mentally groaned when she noticed that four other trainers were impatiently waiting, eager to receive their pokemon. Not another word passed through Indigo's lips as she fell back into the shadows and waited for the other trainers to receive their pokemon. She could wait.
